THE PERFECT WIFE
CHAPTER 1
Sarah’s eyes started to flutter open. Still lying in bed, she stretched her arms and tried to wake up. As her eyes opened and her senses started to clear, she began to look around the dark room. And that’s when she realized that she had no idea where she was at.
The last thing that Sarah could remember was going to the bar last night. What happened after that, however, was a complete blank to her. She also could not remember ever leaving the bar. Had she gone home with someone last night? She was sure that she hadn’t drank that much last night.
From the corner of the room, there was an open door with a light on beyond the doorway. That was the only light entering the room but it was enough light for her to make out the basic layout of the room she was in.
In one corner of the room, she could see the silhouette of an old wooden rocking chair and a chest of drawers. Next to the chest of drawers, there was a small vanity with a large mirror and a chair tucked up underneath it. She did not recognize any of these items and still had no idea where she was. Wherever she was, she wasn’t at home in her own bed where she should be.
Sitting upright in the bed, Sarah continued to survey the room. It only took her a moment to realize that there were no windows in the room which struck her as odd to say the very least. In the far corner of the room was a door that was closed.
Sarah swung her legs out of the bed and stood up. Her head began to pound with pain and her vision went blurry. As the room began to spin around, Sarah passed out and fell to the floor.
